Brick looks like the toughest surface on the property and the mortar between it is not. Cleaning masonry is about reading the joints before deciding how much pressure the wall can actually handle.

The problems that show up most.
Green and black growth in the mortar
Mortar joints hold moisture longer than the brick face does, so growth starts in the lines.
Efflorescence
The white chalky bloom is mineral salt coming out of the masonry. It has a different fix than dirt.
Clay splash on lower courses
The lowest courses take the worst of it, because that is where rain splashes soil back up onto the wall.
Soft or failing mortar
Older joints wash out under pressure. That is damage, not cleaning, and it is why we check first.

Test an area first
A small, low-visibility spot tells us how the mortar and the face are going to behave.

Solution-led on soft masonry
Older brick and questionable joints get cleaned chemically at low pressure rather than mechanically.

Even coverage across the face
Masonry shows stripes badly, so passes are overlapped and kept consistent.

Full rinse
Residue left in a joint will show up as a light line once the wall dries.
Being straight with you
Where cleaning stops.
We will not pressure-clean masonry with failing mortar, because the cleaning becomes the damage. Efflorescence may return after cleaning if moisture is still moving through the wall. Paint overspray, mortar smears from the original build, and staining inside the brick body are not dirt and may not come out.

Can brick be pressure washed?
Sound brick with solid mortar, yes, at a sensible pressure. Old or crumbling joints, no. We check the joints before we decide.
What is the white powder on my wall?
Efflorescence. It is mineral salt migrating out of the masonry as moisture passes through. It is treated differently from dirt and it can come back if the moisture source is still there.
