Fence Cleaning in East Alabama
Fences take weather from both sides and never get looked at until the shaded run turns green. Cleaning one properly means matching the method to the material and covering both faces, not just the side you see from the patio.

Green along the bottom rail
The lowest boards stay damp longest and go first. It usually creeps upward from there.
Gray weathering on wood
Untreated pine and cedar silver out over a few seasons. Cleaning pulls warmth back into the boards.
Clay splash at ground level
Mowing, rain, and runoff put red soil on the bottom foot of everything in this part of the state.
Chalky vinyl
White vinyl picks up a gray film that looks permanent and usually is not.

Read the fence
Loose pickets, popped nails, and rotting posts get flagged before cleaning rather than discovered by the pressure washer.

Wood fencing is soft. High pressure fuzzes the grain and leaves stripes that never go away.

Where cleaning stops.
Cleaning does not repair a fence. Rotted posts, split pickets, and rusted hardware will be clean and still need attention. Wood that has gone deeply gray will lighten and warm up, but it will not look new, and we will not tell you it will.

Should I stain the fence after?
If you plan to, cleaning first is the right order. Let it dry fully before anything goes on it.
Will the green come back?
Eventually, in this climate. Shaded runs go first. How long it holds depends on how much sun and airflow that fence line gets.
